This November, after a dense recruitment process, Liisa Pihus joined our lab as a mobility research assistant.
Welcome, Liisa! To get to know you better, we hereby ask you three questions.
What is your background?
I have studied recreation management and worked in various customer service and event management positions. In recent years, I was a coordinator of extracurricular activities at a primary school. I came across the job position at Mobility Lab by chance. I have no previous connection to geography; it was never my strongest subject at school, but I am excited to gain new knowledge and broaden my horizons.
What do you do in your free time?
I enjoy dancing. I danced a lot during school and participated in various dance competitions. Two years ago, my old dance studio invited alumni to perform a joint performance at their anniversary concert, and that’s how I found my way back to dancing.
Additionally, I absolutely love playing board games. Whenever I have the chance, I take out a game. I still have a lot of games I haven’t had the chance to try, so any invitations to board game nights are eagerly awaited! 🙂

What is your favorite book?
At different stages of life, different books have spoken to me, but when I think of the term “favorite book,” the first that comes to my mind is Charlotte Brontë’s Jane Eyre. The complexity, depth, and excitement of the story stirred strong emotions in me. I’ve read it a few times, and I always immerse myself deeply in the book. But if someone were to ask me what exactly happened in the story, I could only respond with the emotions I felt while reading.

Mis on Sinu taust?
Olen õppinud rekreatsioonikorraldust ning töötanud erinevatel klienditeeninduse ja ürituskorraldusega seotud ametikohtadel. Viimased aastad olin põhikoolis huvijuht. Mobiilsusuuringute laborisse sattusin juhuslikult töökuulutuse peale. Geograafiaga mul varasem seos puudub, kooliajal ei olnud see mu tugevaim külg, aga ootan põnevusega uute teadmiste saamist ja oma silmaringi avardamist.
Millega sa vabal ajal tegeled?
Mulle meeldib tantsida. Olen kooliajal väga palju tegelenud tantsimisega ja osalenud erinevatel tantsuvõistlustel. Kaks aastat tagasi kutsus vana tantsustuudio vilistlasi oma juubelikontserdile ühiskavaga esinema ja sellega leidsin tee tagasi tantsu juurde.
Lisaks meeldib mulle meeletult lauamänge mängida, igal võimalusel võtan mõne mängu välja. Mul on veel väga palju mänge, mida pole saanud proovida, seega kõik kutsed lauamänguõhtutele on väga oodatud! 🙂

Mis on su lemmikraamat?
Erinevatel eluetappidel on mind kõnetanud erinevad teosed, aga mõeldes terminile “lemmikraamat” meenub esimesena Charlotte Brontë “Jane Eyer”. Kogu loo keerukus, mitmekihilisus ja põnevus tekitas tugevaid emotsioone. Olen seda raamatut mõne korra lugenud ja iga kord elasin raamatusse väga sisse. Kui aga keegi praegu küsiks, mis seal täpselt juhtus, siis oskaksin vaid vastata, mis emotsioonid lugedes tekkisid.
